About

Hello there, and welcome to ‘Freedom and Hope’!

Thanks so much for visiting this blog – I am excited to be able to share my story, and spread as much hope as possible in doing so:)

My name is Naomi Lloyd. I am 18 years old, have just finished my A levels, and I live in Northern Ireland. When I was 14, I was diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa (an Eating Disorder), Depression, and Anxiety. Recovery has been a very tough battle, physically and mentally, but now, after 4 long years I can finally say I am doing very well – and I am very very happy about that!

This blog will mainly consist of a) little posts focussing on a certain topic based on my recovery, and b) poems I have written (and plan to continue writing!) throughout my journey. I really just want to use my experience and turn it into something positive – whether that is by raising awareness of Anorexia Nervosa, helping sufferers’ families understand the illness a bit better, or giving hope to people in recovery, encouraging them that life can get better!

This time 4 years ago (July 2012), I was about to start my recovery journey, and I can honestly say that I never imagined I would be where I am today – enjoying life, enjoying food, and passionate about helping others/their families who are going through a similar experience to mine. There is hope!!!

Finally, in doing this blog, I am linking in with an ED charity, EDANI (Eating Disorder Association Northern Ireland), where I am volunteering this year. I have included a link to their details on the ‘Contact’ section of this blog.

Also, in some blog posts, I will probably refer to ‘It’ or ‘Miss A.N.’ – those are names that I sometimes give my Eating Disorder, Anorexia Nervosa, when writing…just to let you know and avoid confusion!

Thank you for coming to Freedom and Hope,

Naomi:)
